Importing Images to Aperture

  1. Open finder and aperture.
  2. Find files for import.
  3. Select chosen folder and press the "RETURN" key (to allow changing or copying name of folder).
  4. Press "COMMAND C" to copy the file name.
  5. Select Aperture application (or press "COMMAND TAB" to switch back and forth between the applications). 
  6. If multiple folders are found in Aperture, click the folder to which the images will be imported (i.e. To Do Melissa).
  7. Press "COMMAND SHIFT N" to create a new folder underneath the original folder.
  8. Press "COMMAND V" to paste the file name into this folder, then press "RETURN" to seal the folder's name.
  9. Switch back to the finder using "COMMAND TAB" and select the folders within the originally selected folder (do not drag over the original folder), and drag them to the newly created folder in aperture without dropping them into it.
  10. While holding the files over the aperture folder, press "COMMAND OPTION" then drop the files. 

Additional Internal Operations:

  1. Once the files have started to import go back to the finder and click on the original file (the one with the customer name and ID#)
  2. Press "CONTROL" and click the mouse to bring up a box full of options. Toward the bottom of this box will be a selection of colors you can choose from. Select yellow to mark that the files have been imported.
